Accounts opschonen

Al jaren worden er accounts aangemaakt voor van alles en nog wat. Zo kwam ik laatst een account tegen van de moviedatabase.org.
Een zoekactie op de betreffende website over het verwijderen van je account geeft een opmerking van iemand die zegt:

“Dan kom je toch gewoon niet meer naar de website… Waarom zou je het verwijderen?”

Nou, dan is mijn idee over je digitale ‘footprint’ achterlaten anders dan die van de persoon van het bericht.

TheTVDB (https://www.thetvdb.com/) is zijn policy aan het updaten. Dat geeft aan dat het account daar nog rondzwerft. Ook maar proberen te verwijderen. Eens kijken wat we daar aan gaan treffen 🙂

Eerst geeft inloggen dat alle wachtwoorden gereset zijn ergens in juli 2019. Dit geeft al het gevoel dat ze gehackt zijn geweest… En dat er mogelijk dus gegevens zouden kunnen zijn gelekt. Anders verplichten ze je niet om je wachtwoord te wijzigen. Ik heb dit overigens verder niet uitgezocht…

Er is een profiel, ga naar account – edit information – scroll naar beneden en geeft je mailadres op, zet een vinkje dat je snapt dat het definitief weg is. Klik op Delete account.
Hierna inloggen werkt inderdaad niet meer 🙂

Onderstaande tekst komt van de AirBnB website. Ik wil mijn account verwijderen en ik moet hen gegevens gaan sturen en mogelijk ze wat gegevens, of alle gegevens, beschikbaar voor henzelf als zij dat nodig vinden 🙁
Ik heb 7 of 8 linkjes moeten klikken om mijn account te verwijderen. Dan komt er een melding, als we je geverifieerd hebben verwijderen we je account.

When you delete your account:
• We will verify your identity for security purposes before accepting the deletion request.
• Any reservations you currently have as a host or a guest will be cancelled automatically.
• We’ll start working on your deletion request after we receive it, but some of your data may remain in our systems if we are legally required, or while we are legally permitted, to retain it.
• Instead of deleting certain data, we may de-identify or disassociate it, such that it no longer appears associated with you. Some information, such as your reviews and messages you sent to other people, may still be visible to others.
Once your account is deleted, you can’t reactivate it, recover any data, or regain access. You’ll need to set up a new account if you want to use Airbnb again.

Na een paar uur komt er een e-mail om je uit te nodigen om nog heel veel extra werk te doen en om je persoonlijke documenten naar AirBnB te sturen, belachelijk! Bekijk hieronder de e-mail die ik heb ontvangen:

Please don’t make this impossible.
Just send me a e-mail with some sort of verification code and let me enter the code somewhere. Like you do with password recovery.

Hello …, thank you for your answer.
Airbnb, as a data controller, needs to make sure we are receiving any GDPR-related request only from the account owner. That’s the reason why we are asking you to send us a proof of identity in the form of a valid ID.
We’ll need it to match the information you have added to your account – name, surname and date of birth – with the details on the ID you will provide us.
If you do not feel comfortable in sharing with us any more information you can hide or blur them before sending us the document.
You can attach your document in a pdf or jpeg format to your next reply to this email.Airbnb accepts Passports, ID cards or driving licenses.
Also, I want to reassure you that your ID document will be deleted together with your account at the end of the deletion process.

But I never used my account for 5 years. I never used my ID to verify myself for making an account.
I really would like you to delete my account without me having to send my passport.

As an alternative to providing us with a copy of your government ID, to verify your identity as the account holder, please log into your account within the next 3 days. Once we confirm a successful log in, we will be able to proceed.
Please, make sure in case you are already logged in to log out first and then log in again.Do not use the App, please, use a computer and the desktop version.

Een week later geprobeerd in te loggen, en ik kan inderdaad niet meer inloggen! Dat werkt. Of het ook daadwerkeliojk 100% verwijderd is zal pas blijken als AirBnB wordt gehackt. Als dan mijn e-mailadres er tussen zit weet ik pas dat ze het account alleen maar uitgeschakeld hebben ipv volledig verwijderd… We gaan het (hopelijk niet) meemaken.
